4f87feb665141491e104dcd3b788f689In 2005, everything was going my way–family, relationship, church, career. I had arrived!

In the fall, my body started acting weird. After several medical tests and a surgery, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Everything changed in my life that day.

Some changes were tough. I mean…cancer. It can’t get too much worse than that!

But it was a Wednesday. I went to Bible study that same night, sobbing and terrified. The church elders were all present. They laid hands on me and prayed the prayer of faith for healing.

To this day, I believe I was healed that night that the elders prayed. Not only was my body made whole, but I was on a path wellness and wholeness in every area of my life. The same day I got the worst news ever, I also got the good news of healing!

One thing is for sure–I could never go back to being the person I was before. It is called a “new normal,” but nothing is really “normal” again.

So, a few things are on my mind:

  1. Listen to your body. Listen to the still, small voice inside you. Listen to your life. It doesn’t (usually) mean that that worst is going on, but something in your life may need your attention. Ignoring it won’t make it go away.
  2. Consider ways that “wellness” in your life can mean more than physical health, and “prosperity” can mean more than money. (I’ve been talking about these subjects on the blog lately. Check out posts here, here, and here.)
  3. I have been blessed to be cancer-free for almost 14 years (HALLELUJAH!). I was diagnosed on November 2, which means that tomorrow is my diagnosis anniversary, but I am posting this acknowledgement to God and to all today. Whatever it is, big or small, DON’T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW TO CELEBRATE! Tomorrows are not promised to us. Seize the day!
  4. Don’t ever go backward. You can’t. Always keep advancing (my word for 2019).
